When will I receive my payment?

Why didn’t I receive a payment instantly?

Not all banks support Instant Payments. ‘Instant Payments’ is an umbrella term for various payment networks. Bunq supports the two largest Instant Payment networks in Europe: RT1 and TIPS. If both the sending bank and the receiving bank support the same Instant Payment network, the transaction will be instant (within 10 seconds). If the sending bank and the receiving bank don’t support the same Instant Payment network, the transaction won’t be instant. The transaction is then sent as a regular SEPA transfer, which takes 1-2 business days.

Examples Dutch banks

Are transactions between bunq and Rabobank instant?
Yes! Both bunq and Rabobank support the TIPS network, so sending and receiving money between those banks will be instant.

Are transactions between bunq and ABN AMRO, ING or Knab instant?
Transactions from bunq to ABN AMRO, ING or Knab are instant. Transactions from ABN AMRO, ING or Knab to bunq are not (always) instant, but will take 1-2 business days. This is because those banks support receiving Instant Payments on the TIPS network, but they don’t support sending Instant Payments (yet).

What can I do if I still didn’t receive a payment after 2 business days?

You can start an in-app payment investigation.
